Animal ID: SparklesTimneh African Grey

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! My name is Sparkles and I am a very sweet Timneh African Grey parrot. I lived with one family for 22 years and then the person I loved the most died unexpectedly. The wonderful folks at Florida Parrot Rescue took me in and found me a foster mom. I am used to being in a loving home and my foster mom is making me feel so comfortable and welcome. I'm now learning to eat a nice, healthy diet of pellet and chop. Sometimes I need a little incentive to remind me how good pellets and chop really are so my foster mom will give me a little sprinkle of seed on top of the chop or pellets.. She is so smart! She knows just what I like! I will step ... (Read More)up and I will also accept tummy tickles and head scritches, you just need to pay attention to my body language and make sure that I'm comfortable enough to accept them from you. FPR was told that I didn't care for women but my foster mom says that is not what she is experiencing. I do a talk a little bit right now, but everyone thinks I say more than I let on. Guess everyone will just have to wait and see :) As you can see, I love my foster mom, she has been so wonderful to me, but I really want someone of my very own. I hope you will consider being that very special person in my life! Why don't you come meet me and let's find out if we can be special to each other? I came into the Rescue with just my feathers, so if you would like to send me some things from my Amazon Wish List, here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1PW8EX1SI4R8H/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Animal ID: TequilaBlue and Gold Macaw (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi, Everyone! My name is Tequila, nice to meet you! I am a big, male, Blue and Gold macaw, approximately 27 years old. At first I was scared of my surroundings and my foster mommy but soon I began to warm up. Now, I will step up on my foster mom's arm, but only if there is a treat involved. I actually prefer to hang out on her shoulder and nibble her ear but I don't like to stay up there for too long. Being away from my cage for an extended amount of time makes me kinda nervous so sometimes I'd rather just hang out with you while I'm sitting on top of my cage. I would do better in a quiet home, a lot of noise and commotion contributes to ... (Read More)my nervousness. I am a good eater and I just love veggies and fruits. Oh..I love treats too. I love it when my foster mommy gives me treats. Did I mention I like treats? I am fully feathered and have no past history of plucking. Like any macaw, I can get loud throughout the day and am not suited to condo or apartment living. I say a few words and have a loud, disinctive whistle. I am also missing a nail on one of my toes but that does not get in my way..not at all! I love my toys but I go through them reallllly fast! I also love to hang out by the window and watch the ducks go by. I know when it's time to go night night, my foster mommy covers my cage with a sheet. I like that, it makes me feel comfy and secure. I need a special someone that has a lot of love, patience and attention to give me (maybe some treats too). In return, I know I will make a devoted friend and companion. Could that special someone possibly be you? Please come meet me and let's find out! While you are waiting to meet me, would you like to send me a gift from my Amazon wish list? It would awesome if you would, I would so appreciate it! Here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3EFHONXOBXJZ6/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Thanks for reading my story! Animal ID: RosieUmbrella Cockatoo (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello! My name is Rosie and I am a very handsome Umbrella Cockatoo in perfect feather condition. I came into the Rescue because my owner passed away. I am about 12 years old and the vet told me that I am actually a male. I am a great eater and I take foods from your hand very gently. I am on a healthy diet of Zupreem pellets and I love fruits and veggies, especially bananas, carrots, and broccoli. I make very cute squeaks and squawks, but I haven't said any words yet. I don't like to make a lot of noise and I am still getting used to my foster family. I would imagine that once I do get more comfortable, I will probably be like a typical ... (Read More)cockatoo in the noise department which will make me unsuitable for apartment or condo living. I am very shy, but I am warming up to my foster mom and dad. I don't mind my foster brothers and sister that include another cockatoo and two dogs. Even the horses outside the window don't scare me! I used to live on a lanai and I love looking out the window. I haven't stepped up for my foster family yet, but I do like to hang out on top of my cage while they sit near me. My foster mom and I both think that Rosie is a silly name for a boy. I don't really seem to recognize the name as belonging to me. My foster mom sometimes calls me Reggie, or something that kind of sounds like Rosie. I am hoping that my new forever family will change my name to something more suited to a handsome, young, MALE, cockatoo such as myself after they adopt me! Maybe you would like to come meet me, give me a forever home AND a new name? I would sure like to meet you! Meantime, would you like to send me a 'Welcome to Rescue' gift? Boy would I appreciate it! Animal ID: BogeyBlue & Gold Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! My name is Bogey and I am an 18 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. Before coming to live with my foster mum, I had been in the same home all 18 years of my life. Mum and dad got so busy, that I was ignored for a very long time. Because of that, I don't know how to interact with humans anymore so they decided I would be better off in a home that I could have the attention I deserve, and in turn, learn to love humans again. I like food, and I suggest that when you approach me and offer me your hand in friendship, it has food in it. If it doesn't, well, I hate to admit it, but I might actually bite. But it's easy to keep me from biting, like ... (Read More)I said, just offer me food :) I do scream a little but now I have these fun things called toys I don't feel the urge to scream as much as I use to. Still, I am not suited to condo or apartment living. I wasn't on the best of diets before but my foster mum is sneaking in some healthy pellets. They look kinda boring cause they are not pretty colors but I am beginning to start nibbling on them and they aren't too bad! She cheated just a bit and mixed a little seed in with them and I sure do love that! I am just loving all these fresh veggies I get for my evening meal and my foster mum hasn't found a veggie I won't eat yet. I used to love canned pineapple for snacks but I have been converted to raw almonds, pine nuts... well, really you can give me any type of nut and I will take it right from your hand. My favorite pastime is having long talks with my foster mum from atop my cage. She is pretty tall (she has a kinda funny accent too) but I will bend over and put my face right by hers so we can talk eye to eye. I am so wishing for a forever home so I can become part of a family and feel the love and compassion I have missed for so long. I will need someone with patience, who is willing to work with me and love me unconditionally. I know, in time, I will become that loving, wonderful, companion that I used to be. Won't you please come meet me and see if you could be the person I've been looking for? I just know you are out there, somewhere! While you are making plans to meet me, would you like to send me a gift from my Amazon wish list? I would be so happy and excited to get a gift! Animal ID: LuckyCockatiel

Pet Bird

Hello! My name is Lucky and I am a cockatiel of unknown age. My foster parents named me Lucky because I have quite the story. One day I found myself all alone, out in the middle of the street, with cars and trucks driving really fast, whizzing right past me! I was soooooooooooo scared!!! Luckily a school teacher saw me and rescued me from the danger I was in. I could have been injured or worse. This teacher really wanted to help me find my home so she contacted the wonderful people at Florida Parrot Rescue because she was sure they could help me. She was right! I am now living in a home with my new foster mommy and daddy. The first ... (Read More)thing they did was bring me to the vet to make sure I was OK (which I am!). All new birds in Rescue go to the vet before they are allowed to look for their forever home. Next they brought me to a nice, big room (cage) of my own with lots of yummies and toys. I love yummies and toys! Then, while I ate yummies and played with my toys, they tried their best to find my home. Unfortunately they did not find it. Luckily, Florida Parrot Rescue finds new homes for parrots just like me! I'm slowly becoming more comfortable in my foster home. I sometimes talk and whistle to the other cockatiels in the next room, and even talk to my foster Mommy and Daddy. I'll say 'Pretty bird,' among other things. I like being in my own room, as my feather loss may have been from being picked on by other cockatiels. My beautiful crest feathers on my head have grown back so I can stand up tall and proud! I do need to work on stepping up from inside my room. I'm not so sure about hands or perches yet. Sometimes I will step up on a towel, though. I can also give a nip as so many things are new in my life. I've got to learn again to trust. Someday that will happen as I will find my forever home with someone that will love me and be patient with me. Now you know why I was named Lucky! With your help, I will be lucky enough to find my forever home, maybe with you. Please come meet me and let's find out! Would you like to send me a Welcome to Rescue Gift from my Amazon wishlist? Here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/36ZGZ5TCVOIE4/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Thanks for reading my story. Love, Lucky. Interested in adoption? Animal ID: SydneyUmbrella Cockatoo

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi Everyone! My name is Sydney, nice to meet you! I am a 13 yr old Umbrella Cockatoo. My former mommy loved me very much but due to health issues, she couldn't take care of me any longer. She hopes that allowing FPR to find me a new home will give me a chance to have the love and attention I deserve for the rest of my fairly long life :) I am always happy, excited and ready to play. I look forward to that time of the day when my foster dad gets home. He always lets me out of my cage as soon as he walks in the door. I get so excited! I walk all over my cage and I talk to him. I can say 'Pretty Girl' and 'please'. Sometimes I will step up, ... (Read More)but my foster dad calls it 'a work in progress', whatever that means. I am on a basic diet of Zupreem pellets, fresh fruits and nutriberries. That 'V' word (veggies) seems to be missing from my diet, but I know my foster dad will keep trying till he finds some I will eat. I used to chew on my feathers but my foster dad has been working with me on that and now they are growing back. We are both really excited about that! I like to take daily showers and that helps my feathers a lot. I seem to get along well with the other birds in my foster home and the dogs. Please remember, though, to never leave me and your 4 footed, furry friend out together unsupervised, no matter how well we *seem* to get along. I would make a good companion and friend for someone living in a single family home. Please remember, I AM a cockatoo and I can be loud, as can all cockatoos, it's who we are. I am not suited to apartment or condo living for that reason and can't be placed with a family that lives in either. I know my forever home is out there. Is it with you? Please come meet me and let's find out! While you are waiting to meet me, would you like to send me a gift from my wish list? I would sure appreciate it. Animal ID: Mickey and SylviaLovebirds

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! My name is Mickey and the little sweetheart standing behind me in the picture is Sylvia. We are two gorgeous lovebirds of an unknown age. We are both kinda shy but I am more outgoing than Sylvia. We really haven't been handled much and we don't like to be touched yet, but we sure love to sing! We start singing for our foster mom as soon as she gets up in the morning. We also love to look out the window and sing to the birdies outside. We are a little nervous of coming out of our cage right now, but we like it when our foster mom sits on the floor near our cage, with the cage door closed. and just chats to us about whatever she can ... (Read More)think of. We have a tent and a swing in our cage which we love, and when the cage door is open, we hang out in the tent. We seem to be ok around our foster family's dog, but please remember to always supervise any interaction between us and our furry buddies. We are depending on you to keep us safe :) We *will* come out of our tent with the cage door open for nutriberries!! We love those! Yummy!!! Our foster mom gives them to us as a snack. We also eat premium egg food and vitaseed. We are two very sweet lovebirds that are bonded and must be adopted together. We like human attention and with a lot of love and patience we can probably be taught to enjoy physical contact, maybe even step up or sit on your shoulder. We will need a family who is willing to spend some time with us to make this happen. Or, just appreciate how pretty we look and how beautiful we sound! Does this sound like your family? Animal ID: NickBlue and Gold Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hello Everyone! My name is Nick and I am a super handsome Blue and Gold Macaw. I am only 9 years old which makes me quite young so please be prepared to have me as your companion for a really long time! My daddy died suddenly and I've been a little quiet since I came into Rescue, but I am now mumbling again and my foster mom is pretty sure I'll be talking again soon. I have a brand new, beautiful cage and it makes me feel very safe and secure which makes me more confident and happy. I do have to admit that I am NOT a morning bird, and since I'm not allowed to have coffee like you humans, you will have to learn when I want to be left alone ... (Read More)or I would like some attention. I like head scritches and I like to handled and touched after I get to know you. I seem to like men and women about the same and I even get along with my foster family's small, 4 legged barking buddy. Please though, you should never leave me out of my cage and unsupervised with another 4 legged buddy, I am depending on you to keep me safe! I used to have a small plucking problem but now my new feathers are growing in and I look quite handsome, if I do say so myself. I like you to tell me that too, as often as you can :) My favorite foods are nutri-berries, watermelon, grapes, and almonds. My foster mom is trying to get me to eat these things called vegetables but so far I can't really say I like them. Oh well, we will keep trying. Wouldn't you like to come meet me and see for yourself how handsome I am? I would love to see if I could go home with you! Animal ID: Peaches & BlueberryLovebirds

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: Very High Energy

Hi Everyone!!! My name is Blueberry (call me Blue for short)and my friend is Peaches (Peachie for short). We are a bonded pair of lovebirds taken in from the emergency intake of 36 birds, awhile back, and must be adopted together. We, and all the others, were so grateful for all the donations and support we received from you! Thank you again for that! We were sort of afraid of people at first but our foster mommy says we have come a long way in learning to trust again. We are VERY energetic and love, love, love to roam around the house, so much so, that we really can't go to a home that has any other pets, or even small children, as it ... (Read More)would not be safe for us. We sometimes chew things when we explore so we really need to be supervised. Neither of us step up. My foster mommy says that I show an interest in what she is doing, Peachie..not so much. We do like to cuddle with each other at night but during the day we will separate to explore. Of course, because we are bonded, we do call out to each other when we can't see where the other has gone. We are on a diet of seed/pellet mix, love millet and have learned to like fruits, vegetables and chop. We are looking for our forever home with a patient and understanding parront that will allow us to continue to have our freedom outside of our cage. Could that be you? Please come meet us and see how adorable we are! Would you like to send us a gift from our Amazon Wish List? Animal ID: TimmyCockatiel (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! My name is Timmy and I am 22 yr young cockatiel. Don't let my age fool you, though, I am quite feisty and vocal. I love to chirp, whistle and chatter to anyone and anything that will listen to me. I especially love to sit by the window and look out into the yard, you never know what you might see out there! I'm a happy guy and I like to greet the mornings with a cheerful whistle that will put a smile on your face. My foster mom thinks I might be trying to say 'how you doing?' or 'what are you doing?' and she thinks it's so cute when I start talking to the tags on the towels and the little toy I have in my cage. My foster family is ... (Read More)currently transitioning me to a pellet diet and I already love almonds and nutriberries. Matter of fact, I will eat those tasty yummies right off your hand! I am a little timid at first, but I will warm up to you eventually and step up on your hand or arm. Sometimes I will even fly to your shoulder and let you walk around the house with me riding up there. FPR believes that it is dangerous to keep a companion bird flighted and strongly advises parronts to keep their FID's (feathered kid's) wings clipped, however, in my case, because I've been fully flighted all my life and I use my wings to help me balance when I get winded, the vet recommends I stay flighted. Wouldn't you like to see how cute I am for yourself? Maybe you'd like to take me home with you and give me the forever home that I'm looking for? Please come meet me and let's find out! Animal ID: BanditBlue & Gold Macaw (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Bandit and I am a gorgeous female Blue and Gold Macaw in my thirties . Before I came into Rescue, I was cage bound for many, many years and I had plucked myself so badly that I damaged my feather follicles, which means that my feathers will not grow back in most places. But that's OK because I am a fun loving nudist! Who needs clothes? Not me! My foster family has shown me that I am gorgeous without them! When I first came into Rescue, if anyone came within even a few feet of me, I would have a panic attack and fall on my back screaming, flapping, and kicking. I would also bite pretty hard - I was just so scared that I ... (Read More)didn't know what else to do. But I have flourished in foster care and I am now a much happier parrot. I get plenty of daily out of cage time with my foster family. I don't pluck anymore, but like I said, I will always be a nudist due to feather follicle damage. I love to be in the middle of all of the action at all times and I love to talk and amuse you with my vocalizations. I can bark, quack, and I am picking up new words all the time. I am still learning to trust though and am working on stepping up consistently, but I love to take treats from your hand and I enjoy my toys. My training has been a long road, and I will get there as long as I am with someone who has lots of patience and love to show me. I really need an experienced large bird owner! I have been in Rescue since 2013 after coming in with 3 other birds, so I am very much looking forward to finding a family of my own where I know I will be safe and loved. Maybe that could be with your family? I would really like for you to come meet me so we can see! In the meantime while I wait for my perfect family to come along, maybe you would like to send me treats or toys? Some of my favorites are tube bells, wood bead toys and Roudybush size large, so I can hold them while I eat. Everything can be found on my Amazon wish list. Animal ID: CharlieSulfur Crested Cockato

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi Everyone! My name is Charlie and I am quite the handsome Sulfur Crested Cockatoo. I am approximately 15 years old which means I am still a youngster! I am also smaller than a Moluccan or Umbrella Cockatoo which makes me just the perfect size! I bet you noticed my beak looks a little different. I was attacked by a Macaw in a previous home and part of the top of my beak is missing. No worries, though, I am in no pain and I can eat and climb with no problems, my beak is just shaped a little funny is all. I like to think of it as distinctive! My foster mommy says I am a wonderful bird to have in the home! I will step up onto your hand and ... (Read More)sit on your shoulder. I just love head scritches and cuddle time. I have a bucket full of toys that I love to throw on the floor and play with. When I am done, my mom says I am such a good boy, I put all the toys back in the bucket. I am a good eater! I am on a healthy diet of pellets mixed with Higgens Safflower Gold. I like mixed veggies with bits of sliced almonds and chopped walnuts mixed in and will eat that daily. The piece of fruit that YOU are eating tastes way better than the one you just gave me, so I only like fruit if I can eat yours. I am a pretty happy fella! I am fully feathered with no history of plucking. I do not care for men, so I need a female caregiver and home with no other pets and no children, I am afraid of them. I like to be out of my cage and need someone who can give me a lot of out of cage time, I love roaming on the floor and follow mom around the house like a dog. I have been in Rescue for over a year so my adoption fee has been discounted. Won't you come meet me? I just know that my forever home is out there, maybe it's with you? If you would like to buy me a gift from my amazon wish list, I would be so thankful! http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1ELJUCSW9DNQ8/ref=cm_wl_list_o_153?reveal=purchased&view=null Interested in adoption? Animal ID: ChampMoluccan Cockatoo (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hi Everyone! My name is Champ and I am a gorgeous young, (under 10 years old) Moluccan Cockatoo. My foster mom says that I am a darling bird with so much personality! I am very friendly! I like all types of people, men, women, and children. I will happily accept head scritches and treats from you, even if I don't know you very well, it's who I am :) Besides people, one of the things I really like is to hang upside down! I will swing and hang that way for hours on end. Another thing I really like is to be under the covers. This makes it very easy for me to be toweled off after my baths, or get my toenails clipped or filed. I am on a healthy ... (Read More)diet of pellets, veggies, grains, meat, eggs and fruit. I love cooked sweet potatoes or yams, organic canned pumpkin (not the pie filling, the real pumpkin), fish, chicken, pork, beef and rice, couscous, cooked legumes, all peppers, and of course fruit (grapes especially). Nuts are my treat of choice though, my favorite is shelled pistachios! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMY!!!! (please don't feed me peanuts, they are not really nuts and they are not good for me) I am a Cockatoo and I do sometimes scream. My foster mom has been working with me on this and I've made great progress but screaming is something I do in the wild and I will never stop completely, it's just what Cockatoos do. Because of this, I am not suited for apartment or condo living and can only be adopted into a single family home. I will make a wonderful family companion. Won't you please come out and meet me and see if we 'click'? I so want to find my forever home. Could it be with you? While I'm waiting to meet you, would you like to send me a gift from my Amazon wish list? I sure would appreciate it! Here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1T73B31ULTPKB/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope to meet you soon! Hugs and snuggles, Champ PS: Because FPR really wants me to find my forever home and I have been in Rescue for over a year, my adoption fee is 1/2 off! (Less)
