Animal ID: MillieGoffins Cockatoo

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello Everybody! My name is Millie and my new foster parronts said I am a gorgeous Goffins Cockatoo. I agree! I love my new foster Dad. I hang out on his shoulder a lot and like to cuddle with him. I also love love LOVE head scratches! I am ok with my foster Mom, but a bit skittish, I just need some time to get used to her. I am fine with the dogs in the house also, just remember to be careful with parrots being around other animals, safety first! I have a good vocabulary such as 'where you at?' but have only said 'hello' so far. I don't want my fosters to fall in love with me too quickly, lol! I prefer to be out of my cage as much as ... (Read More)possible and am also happy hanging out on top of it. I only like to go to bed when it is quiet in the house after everyone has gone to bed, otherwise I will squawk a bit to let you know I would rather hang out with you. Oh, I forgot to tell you that I was a major plucker a few years ago and did some permanent damage to my wing feathers that will probably not grow back. My body is covered with this white fluffy stuff and I might be able to grow back some beautiful feathers some day, once I am comfortable in a forever home. Look at my picture though, I am beautiful anyway! I also need time to get used to new surroundings, so I just need someone who is going to be patient with me and who will love me just the way I am. Would you like to meet me? I would like to meet you! I hope we can arrange a meeting very soon. In the meantime, if you would like to send me a welcome to rescue, gift, please see my amazon wish list at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/25120XQ4LPJBC/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? All gifts are very much appreciated by little 'ole me! Thank you! (Less)

Animal ID: HoudiniCherry Headed Conure

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hi everybody, my name is Houdini and I am a beautiful cherry-headed conure! I was very scared when I came into the rescue, as I had not been held for a very long time, and I was a little unsure of people and other animals. Now I realize how nice everyone at Florida Parrot Rescue is and I'm loving being able to interact with people once again! Every morning I greet you with an 'Aaachoo!' and if you're really lucky, you'll even get to hear my chicken impersonation. I have an old injury preventing me from flying, but that doesn't stop me from boogying around to get to you! Oh, and I'm learning to eat this 'chop' stuff and healthy pellets - I ... (Read More)used to be a picky eater! I really am a sweet boy and I need someone who will help me break out of my shell so I can be the best bird I can be! Won't you come meet me real soon? In the meantime, if you would like to send me a welcome to rescue gift, I would really appreciate it as I came into rescue with a very rusted cage (which the peeps at FPR are replacing for me), but I need toys, perches and food. You can see my wish list at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1Y93QWS5L2OLN/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? I would really appreciate anything you can send. I hope to meet you very soon! Animal ID: BuddyBlue and Gold Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hi! My name is Buddy and I am a 5-7 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. I am extremely shy. I do not know how to step up yet, and at my previous home I did not spend a lot of time outside of my cage, but my foster family is working with me on both of these challenges. I just went to the vet and it turns out I am very thin as my previous diet consisted of mostly peanuts and apples. My new foster family is working on converting me to a healthier diet, and I just started eating pellets. They are also working on introducing me to fresh vegetables, fruits, and healthy nuts. Everyday I spend lots of time with my foster parents learning to step up ... (Read More)and trust people. I like people, but can become scared and shy if you move around too fast. I tend to prefer women, but some men are ok. The more time you can spend with me, the more I will like you, it's pretty simple. Like all Macaws I can be pretty loud, I tend to scream when I want attention, and when the sun comes up in the morning. I like to say 'Hi Buddy' when you come in the room, and 'cracker' when I want a treat. I am hoping that there will be someone out there who will have the time, patience, and love I deserve. I promise that if that is you, you will receive a lifetime of companionship and love from me! I hope you come and meet me very soon! If you would like to send me a welcome to rescue gift, you can see my amazon wish list at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/J6NYAIUHVS5E/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? Animal ID: Nora & SeanScarlett & Blue & Gold (female)

Pet Bird

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Birds
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Nora and I am a gorgeous Scarlett macaw and my best friend is Sean, he is a Blue & Gold Macaw. We are a bonded pair and we have to be adopted together. We cry when we are taken away from each other even for a very short term, so staying together forever is a must if you want to consider adopting us. Our foster Mommy calls us the Dynamic Duo!! We came into Florida Parrot Rescue after our owners surrendered us to the humane society on an emergency basis. We were pretty scared. It was a really weird, very loud place and we did not like it. Thankfully, this very nice lady from FPR came to rescue us. She was very patient ... (Read More)with us and when she got us home, she spent a lot of time calming us and speaking to us very softly until we knew we were safe. She did have to throw one of our cages away because it was in awful shape and the other cage does have rust on it, so we really do need a new cage (you can see our amazon wish list or contact FPR if you can help with that!). We were also really dirty and so after we were feeling more comfortable, we got a lovely bath. We were unsure of it at first, but after a few minutes we loved it and now we feel great! We also got some really great food including pellets, vegetables, and some fruits and nuts. Many of these things it seemed we have never had before, and boy were they good! We have lots of eating to catch up with, because as you can see from our pictures, we are quite thin and Sean is very thin. Our new foster Mommy will fatten us up real quick, though! My new foster Mommy says that I am very sassy and that Sean follows me around everywhere. Our foster Mom doesn't know much about us though because we came into rescue with no information, but we are believed to be around 10 years of age. As you can see, we are very plucked, but hopefully with love, attention, the right diet, and plenty of bathing, we will stop over-grooming. However, our feathers will probably not grow back in some of those areas. So far, we are very shy and we do lunge a little bit, but our foster Mommy says that's just because we are nervous. We really need to be adopted by someone who is an experienced parrot handler and who has a good understanding of bonded birds. If you think that may be you, please consider coming to meet us. We really hope we can find a loving home where we can live out our days together and with you! If you would like to send us a welcome to rescue gift, we would really appreciate it as we have nothing and we really need a new cage. While there is a cage on our wish list, if you would like to purchase us one, the rescue can get us one from a wholesaler that is much cheaper than what amazon shows, so please just e-mail them if you are interested.     Hello there! My name is Twilight and I am a cute little lovebird. I am very sweet and I love to hang out on top of your head and groom your hair. My foster Mommy says that my personality is as colorful as I am! I love to eat and try new foods and I also love to play with my toys, my favorite toys are those little finger traps, I love to shred them all up! Animal ID: JasperGoffin's Cockatoo

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

Hello there! I am Jasper the goffins cockatoo. I will say hello and wave to you with my little leg every time I see you coming near me. I can say Hi and if I want to be picked up, I will for sure let you know by reaching out to you with my leg. My foster mom sings to me and I dance up and down and side to side - I enjoy music so much!! I also love to whistle and OH MY I do enjoy attention! I am the king of the home, so if you have another bird, especially a small one, I will get really jealous and scream at them very loud. But if you have dogs I am OK with it, just make sure you keep me safe and we are not out at the same time as that can be ... (Read More)dangerous for me. I love men and women and kids seem very fun - they entertain me. Be careful though, because I may bite those little fingers if I get upset. I have also recently been to the vet and I passed with flying colors! I am really looking forward to a new Mom or Dad or a whole family. I just want to be loved and get attention, so please if you work all day and are barely home, don't pick me! But if you have lots of free time and want a friend to be your companion, then yes!!! Animal ID: BabyBlue Front Amazon

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Birds
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hey, look at me! I am Baby, the super talkative and acrobatic Blue Front Amazon! Ta-DA! What? Not impressed? You are sure to be amazed by my silly antics and energetic personality! Why do I have so much energy you say? Well, it's kind of a long story, but hey that is the only stories I know. In November 2014, I came to my foster home in bad shape physically and emotionally. My dad had passed away and he was everything to me. My dad didn't really teach me about the birds and the bees, so I never liked the lady of the house. Anyway, I was sick and under weight, my foster parents were very worried about me. After some urgent vet care to make ... (Read More)sure I am stable, doc was able to take some blood and run tests. You see, I had really bad clogged nares and didn't breathe so well. They found an abscess and a lot of gross infection stuff. Doc had to flush everything out over a series of visits. Meanwhile, my foster parents were being me all the medicines prescribed. Finally, after nearly two months the infection in my nares didn't come back. I think that is when I decided I really like food! I get the best stuff in my foster home, fresh fruit, veggies, pellets and some fabulous stuff called chop! I started to gain weight and climb around much better now that I am getting stronger. I've got lots of new feathers coming in, my foster dad has been helping me get the ones on my head. I love my foster dad so much, but I really don't care much for foster mom. I will let her touch my feet when I am hanging on the side of my cage and on a rare occasion I will let her give me a quick scratch on the head. Other than that, I will go to my foster dad when he asks me to. I just talk and whistle with excitement when I am with him. I really like to talk, I will mumble and argue with myself all day. My foster parents laugh at some of the things I say. But what I want to say most of all is how much I need my forever home! If you're interested in an active older bird and love talking, I am your guy! Interested in adoption? Please go to our website to fill out an application and to read our adoption protocols at http://floridaparrotrescue.com/adopt-foster-application/ An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. I sleep well and do not make any noises after I am put to bed. I do like showers and I love to be sprayed. However, I do not know how to step up and will bite if you try to touch me, but with some patience and love, I am sure that I will eventually come around. My foster Mom says I eat very well.     THE MIGHTY TRITON IS HERE!! Hello there! They call me Cindy. Don't let the delicate name fool you though, as I am a mighty Triton Cockatoo! They do not know my age, and I will not tell them - it is my secret! I do not talk, but I have a piercing whistle that I let out once in a while that my Foster Mom swears could break glass. I like the sound, I think it lets the world know I am a force to be reckoned with, and I am excited to be alive! I am not shy, but I am mostly too busy to make noise other than clicking my beak, so I stay quietly busy most of the time. I have more energy than I know what to do with, so I tend to over-preen if you ... (Read More)do not find things to occupy my time. I can destroy a Macaw toy within minutes, so you have to work hard to keep up with me! I am very curious about all things, but I do not like hands, except when they offer me a treat. I will trust a stick if you offer it nicely. I love fresh vegetables and fruits like broccoli, carrots, corn, cauliflower, pasta, rice, banana, apple, kiwi, mango, pumpkin seeds, and almonds in the shell. I eat Harrison's pellets, and Feed Your Flock pellets. My foster mom has a game called 'play for nuts' where we use a clicker and a touch stick, and I get a piece of cashew or almond when I do something she likes. I enjoy learning new ways to speak bird to humans. I have not been with humans in several years, but they are not so bad, at least, not so far. I currently live next to another bird, and I hate him. I prefer to have a large space all to myself, with no other bird close to me. After all, I am a mighty Triton!! I need someone to love me and be patient with me. I am very, very smart, and I will not disappoint you, if you give me a chance. But you have to know what you are doing to share companionship with a mighty Triton. We are given little pellets and parakeet seed every day with a piece of millet treat once in a while. We mostly eat the seed, but our foster mom keeps working with us on that. She is ... We don't need much except your care and dedication, but we sure would like to have a place by a window, a swing, some healthy, lots of toys, fresh food and water, and someone who would love us always. In return, we will chatter to you and entertain you with our antics all day! Please come meet us soon and consider making us part of your forever family! (Less)

Hello! My name is Valentino and I am a gorgeous black-masked lovebird. The vet says I am in perfect health and have been converted to a healthy diet which includes a seed and pellet mix (no sunflower seeds though!) and some fresh vegetables and fruits. I love to play with my toys and I like being around people. I am a young bird, but Florida Parrot Rescue does not have much information on my background. Once you spend time letting me get used to you, I will come out of my cage and spend time with you, but I do need some more training on stepping up. If you have the time and love to dedicate to me along with plenty of patience, I will ... (Read More)make a wonderful companion for you! Please come and visit me very soon. Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Birds
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello there! We are not parrots but the nice folks here at Florida Parrot Rescue took us in anyway on emergency. We are a bonded pair of white doves who must be adopted together. My name is Bluebell (because I have blue feet) and my friend here is Scarlett (as she has red feet!). We have seen the Florida Parrot Rescue veterinarian and we have a clean bill of health. So far we coo in the AM and PM, we are not noisy like those parrots! We also have a great appetite. We eat pellet crumbles and Harrisons high potency mash. Oh, and our foster Mom gave us some birdie bread, boy was that good! I think we will get a little seed, greens, and grit ... (Read More)tomorrow for breakfast! We don't mind being picked up at all and we are very gentle. We hope that you will come visit us very soon and take us home to be part of your (inside the home) family! (Less)

Animal ID: DollyMoluccan Cockatoo (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Dolly and I am a sweetheart of a 33 year old Moluccan Cockatoo! I am filled to the brim with energy and excitement and the Florida Parrot Rescue veterinarian has given me a clean bill of health. My foster family says I have a wonderful disposition and that I am kind, gentle, and I love to make friends with everyone I meet! I do speak some and can say Hello. I also like to mimic what you say and I whistle, play games, dance, and of course, give cuddles! I am on a really great diet of healthy pellets, vegetables, fresh fruits, and healthy nuts. I also wear a harness when I go outside - and I love to go outside when the ... (Read More)weather is nice! I do need to go to bed on time every night (in a dark, covered, quiet area) or I will let you know that it is past my bedtime by screaming - loudly - so please make sure I get plenty of rest. I do also get a bit jealous of other animals and will vocalize if I feel like they are getting too much attention over me. I have never been in a home with other animals before, so maybe with time and training, this reaction could be curbed. I would love to have a forever home with a family who can give me all of the attention I crave - I would do especially well with someone who stayed home the majority of the time as I need lots of attention. I really hope you will come meet me very soon and take me home to be part of your family! (Less)

Hello! My name is Harley and I am a six year old green Quaker parrot. I like kisses, music, and I can even talk. I like to say Hello and How are you? I also love to sit on my perch and look around at what everyone else is doing. I am a little shy and slightly cage aggressive, but with positive reinforcement, you can help me overcome that! I do love to sit on your shoulder though and will go wherever you go - I don't care where it is! I did come into rescue plucking my feathers a bit, but I am getting better with that every day. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Skye and I am a cute little parrotlet. I am a new arrival with Florida Parrot Rescue, and boy am I happy that they found me! I came to FPR with 35 other birds after our owner passed away. FPR doesn't have much information about me, but the vet thinks I am still young. My foster Mommy says I should be in the circus as I love to hang upside down and some mornings, when she uncovers me, that is how she finds me! I am now getting fed a healthy diet of both pellets, seeds, and other good things like fresh vegetables and some fruits. I sure look forward to the mornings when I hear my food being prepared - I wait patiently on my ... (Read More)perch - but boy when she puts my dishes down, I do love chow time! I also love to make pretty little tweets and chirping sounds most of the day and it's so funny when my foster Mommy tries to mimic me. She is even trying to get me to talk - I guess that is what she is doing as she keeps repeating the same words over and over!! She does keep me entertained, though, lol!! I'm not comfortable at this time getting on my foster Mommy's fingers or being held - but what can you expect from me when I had very little attention before? Give a bird a break! But my foster Mommy knows this and she is being very patient with me, it will just take some time is all! I am really hoping that someone will want to adopt me who will continue providing me with the love and patience I need to come around and really make a great family member! Maybe that will be you? Animal ID: Baybe & PeachesGoffin's & Moluccan (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Baybee and my sister is Peaches. We are both cockatoos of course, but I am a Goffins and my sister is a Moluccan. We've been together for 14 years and we are bonded so we have to be adopted together. Right now, we live in two separate cages side by side but we love to be out together. It's all good though because we are both as sweet as we can be! We love to play together and we both love a healthy diet of fresh pellets, vegetables, some fruit, and healthy nuts (remember, no peanuts for parrots!). Peaches loves oranges, so she needs a little slice each day or she will let you know you did something wrong! Just not too ... (Read More)much orange as they are acidic and that is not good in too much quantity for most parrots. We are spoiled and like most cockatoos, we can be vocal if we feel like we are being ignored. When we get going it's quite funny, we make our foster family laugh and laugh! Our favorite thing is to cuddle, just be careful you don't over-do it as cockatoos are very easy to stimulate the wrong way, so please stick to scritching our necks and not other areas that may over stimulate. As you can see, we do over-tend to our feathers a bit, but we are working on trying to stop that. Peaches says that if you give us a forever home, just be prepared to get receive of love and entertainment! Peaches also thinks I should tell you while she's not scared of much, I am a bit scared of other animals like dogs, so we may do better in a home without other species of animals. We both LOVE people though and I like jumping from person to person - it's really fun. Peaches gives long, great hugs and she loves kids. I like kids too, but I prefer the bigger people! We both actually prefer men but we will go to anyone. We also love going outside with our foster mommy in the mornings in the screened patio to get sun. We have also both recently visited the veterinarian and we are healthy, so as long as we can stay together we will be just fine. Our mommy says we are so funny together and that we will make great family companions for the right home willing to spend the time and effort we need to be happy - just remember that we both can live just as long as you and it is important to keep us on balanced, healthy diets with lots of toys supplied for stimulation as cockatoos are very intelligent animals. We can't wait to meet you and we hope you come see us real soon! Toodles! Baybee and Peaches (Less)

Pet Bird    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Willy and I am a 20 year old Patagonian Conure. I have been in 4 different homes in that time and none of them were very safe for me. When I came to live with my Florida Parrot Rescue foster family, I was very sick and also very unsure of everything. With amazing vet care through the FPR vets, I am now doing much better although they say I am still very underweight. I weigh about 225 grams and the vet says I need to be more like 380 grams. My foster Mom of course is trying to get me to eat healthy and gain weight at the same time, but she says I am a finicky eater as I was previously on an all seed diet. I do like my ... (Read More)Roudybush pellets though - but we will keep working on the diet thing. I like to give and receive kisses and I love to eat with my foster family. I do try to steal food though, sometimes even right of your mouth, so you have to watch me because they say that is not healthy for me - I am supposed to stick to my own bowl - pffft - whatevs! When I came into rescue, I was plucked bare on my chest and back, but my feathers are beginning to grow back now. I do talk a little, I can say my name and Hello. I am sometimes a little vocal, but I calm down quickly. I also like to vocalize when I hear running water - it gets me very excited and I have begun to take baths - which I had never had before. I also like to hang out with my foster Mom wherever she goes in the house and I will watch while she works on the computer or watches TV, sometimes I even fall asleep on her arm or while I am preening myself. I am really looking forward to finding a place to land where I can stay for the rest of my life where I am a loved and cherished family member. Could that maybe be with you?     Hi my name is Apollo and I'm a Blue Indian ringneck. I was brought to the rescue missing all my chest and neck feathers, I was really bored and plucked them out. Now in my foster home I have lots of cool toys to play with and tons of love and attention. My feathers are even starting to recover, although they may never grow back fully my vet said it's possible. I'm on a fantastic diet now of fresh veggies, pellets, and some fruit and nuts. I'll even kiss ... (Read More)inanimate objects and your feet too! My foster parents say I'm a morning bird and will let you know when the sun is up. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hi everyone! Our names are El and Napoleon. We are a pair of bonded cockatiels and brand new to FPR! We were not handled very much before coming into the rescue, so we are a little timid when humans reach into our cage. However, our foster mom is teaching us that humans can be fun - and they give the BEST head scritches! El (yellow) loves to whistle in the morning and will say 'What cha doing?', 'Good morning!', 'Good birdie', and a bunch of other chatter that our foster home hasn't quite figured out yet. While El is a little more independent, I (Napoleon) am a little more insecure and very reliant on El's companionship. Even still, our ... (Read More)foster home thinks I will end up being the affectionate one because I loves to give kisses, scritches, and I like to inspect your body for jewelry. We are still adjusting to this stuff called 'chop' and these weird 'pellet' thingies. We were used to an all seed diet, so we are learning to try new things! I did came into the rescue with an infection, so we're not quite ready for adoption yet, I have to finish my meds first, but you can still go ahead and put an application in on us! We will update you all on our progress as I get better. Oh, and thank you again to Theresa Packard for the cage, toys, and food! We are loving all our new stuff! (Less)

I love to talk and I can say 'I love you' 'hello' and 'mamma'. I also love to dance with the little people in my new foster home and I like to also whistle along with my favorite songs. My foster Mom says that my friend Gigi has a big personality. She is very friendly and loves to dance and receive head scritches (on her terms only, of course - she is a cockatoo, after all!). She does over groom on her feathers just a bit, but our foster Mom is working with her on that. Gigi is also ... (Read More)pretty vocal, so we are working on that, too. I can also say pretty girl, good boy and I love you. And if you answer, I will have a whole conversation with you, even though my foster Mom says she can't tell everything I say, but she says it makes her laugh. (Read More)we are not bonded, I just like to be around other birds in general. I love to eat fruits, veggies, and pellets and some high quality seeds, and I also love millet. My foster Mom says that I am a little thin, but they are making sure that I am continuing to gain weight with healthy, nutritious foods. I came into rescue with a very bad wing trim and it caused me to lose my balance and slightly injure my wing, but the FPR vet put me on medication and I don't mess with the area, my foster Mom says it is healing very well. I don't step up yet, but my foster Mom says I am improving and that I am no longer afraid - I just take some time to settle in, is all, you just have to be patient with me. I love to take showers and I also love sitting on the enclosed lanai (under supervision of course) to get some sunlight on my face! In the sun, you can see all the rainbow colors on my head. Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive

Hi. My name is Journey and I am an approximately 15 yr old blue and gold macaw. They call me a boy but the doctor hasn't confirmed it. My foster mom gave me this name because I didn't have a name prior to coming here. I also never came out of my cage. Don't worry though; life isn't too shabby nowadays. I try to talk and am learning that being vocal isn't a bad thing but a way of expressing myself. I eat healthy nuts and am in the final stages of a full conversion from seed to pelleted diet. I am still a little uneasy with interacting with people but as you can see by my photos my foster mom is working on it because the world is a big and ... (Read More)scary place outside of my cage! I am also learning how to play with toys because I love shredding newspaper on the bottom of my cage! My foster mom bought me a shred ball and I love it! I am OK with dogs being around - I am curious of them. I seem to like my foster mom over my foster dad but only by a little. I am working on being handled by humans as they haven't really interacted with me that much in my life, but I get lots of almonds and fruit for doing it so I am learning to gently take it from hands while in my cage because my cage is my safe place. I am pretty quiet for a macaw but come near my house and I will scream to let my family know! No need for an industrial alarm here! I am not the bird for someone who doesn't have big parrot experience as I have not been interacted with a lot until recently. Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Abigail - or Abby for short - and I am a gorgeous 8 year old Umbrella cockatoo. My foster Mom says I am something called an escape artist and of course I do also like to chew on things - I am a cockatoo, after all!!! I LOVE to chew on household stuff if you are not careful, so you have to make sure to keep an eye on me at all times and to make sure you provide me with LOTS and LOTS of chewing/wooden toys. I am also really outgoing - a social butterfly if you will! I don't mind other animals being around and even though Florida Parrot Rescue was told I only prefer women, I have warmed up to men now - so really it just ... (Read More)depends on who you are - you will have to meet me to find out if we get along ;) I should not be in a home with young children though. If I do choose you as a friend, then I like to love on you all the time - I love cuddling and I love swinging from your hand, but watch out about over-bonding with me - if I get too bonded to one person I might not be nice to other people in the home, so please make sure you know how to handle positive reinforcement with cockatoos so this does not happen if I come to live with you. Of course I am also very vocal (again, I am a cockatoo!), so this is another reason you should know all about how to use positive reinforcement. I sometimes mumble as well and I like to say 'I love you, Abigail', 'hi' and some other things my foster family has not quite figured out yet. My foster Mom is also trying to get me to try new foods, I sort of like those pellets, but I will keep working on that part, she say's I am picky - whatever, Mom! Anyway - if you think you might like me, please fill out an application on the Florida Parrot Rescue website, and come meet me very soon! Interested in adoption?     Hello! My name is Sir Humphrey Gilbert and my best buds are Sylvester and Sunny. The three of us are tightly bonded and we all love each other very much, so we have to be adopted together. Sylvester is the older of us, around 6-7 years old, and Sunny and I are just a couple of years younger. While we enjoy each other's company the most, we are Ok with people and are even handleable (some of us more than others). We usually spend the day eating, preening, chewing up cuttlebones, rummaging around on the cage floor, and playing with our toys. We are constantly chattering and interacting with each other and are a very lively and happy ... (Read More)group.     My name is Harollette and I am an 8 year old Severe Macaw. I am a good bird who strongly prefers men. I would do best with a single male or at least a male as my primary caregiver. I am a great talker and my foster parents are still finding out new things I say every day. I eat a variety of food well but my foster Dad is working on converting me to a healthy diet of pellets, vegetables and fruits and by the way, I LOVE nuts as treats - only healthy nuts though like pistachios and almonds - no peanuts!     Hi everyone, my name is Milo! I am a six year old green cheek conure looking for my forever home. I was sold to my first family as a sexed male, until one day I started laying eggs. The name Milo stuck, though my foster family jokingly call me 'Miley Flyrus'. I sure loved my last family, but unfortunately they were no longer able to take care of my needs. I am a little feathered ball of energy who will ring bells to get your attention. Though I came from a family of women, I have since become very close with my new foster dad. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to eat. I will try any food you give me although I do not like it all. My foster mom introduced me to chop and it's very yummy! She also let me find out about fruits, nuts, and some other great stuff that ekkies like me need in our diet - we do have a specialized diet, ya know? I like to take showers and will spread my wings.     'Nobody puts Baby in a corner.' That is my favorite line in the whole movie! That shouldn't come as a surprise after all, my name is Baby. I am 9 year old female Senegal parrot who loves to sit with my chosen ones. Sometimes I like sitting on the knee, other times I like sitting on the shoulder. A lot of times, I will put my head down so that you may scratch my head. Other times, I like to be in my room and entertain myself with the toys I have. Whatever my mood may be, I will let you know what I want. Example: If I am sitting on my door, and I want to be with you I will hop onto your shoulder as you walk by. My foster mom calls me 'the ... Love veggies, especially in chop and the steam fresh veggies with brown rice my foster dad makes is fabulous. There are times when I like a certain thing more than others, one day carrots, other days yellow split peas. I am a calm and quiet parrot that will develop stress related arrhythmia if my home life is active. I prefer to be the one and only Baby. If you are looking for your Baby, please be mine!     Jake is a very well behaved blue and gold macaw, in fact, he is the most polite bird I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He says 'thank you' before taking a treat, or diving into his pellets. He also makes sure to greet you with a 'hello' or a 'good morning', and says 'goodbye' or 'good night' when I walk out of his room. Jake loves hanging out on my shoulder and nuzzling his face into my cheek. He is also quite a goofy bird while taking a shower, or meeting new people. He really perks up when men are around, and so I think he enjoys the company of both men and women. He has picked up a few words and sounds while staying with his foster ... He would be a great addition to anyone's home! IMPORTANT NOTE: Jake will only be adopted to a home with a female as the primary care giver.     Hello! My name is Snowy and I am almost 40 years old - but don't let that number hold you up! I have LOTS of life and love left to give! I came into rescue from a loving home of 25 years. My owners felt they could no longer provide me the attention I needed for various personal reasons and made the very difficult decision to have me re-homed. My foster Mom says that I am a very sweet and loving Cockatoo - I do love to snuggle and give kisses. I seem to prefer women, although I am learning to make friends with men as well. I can also be very vocal (hey - I AM a cockatoo, after all!) and I will carry on with my own funny little conversations.... in my very own language! I can also say Hi, Hello, Goodbye and a few other phrases as well. I also enjoy being outside and sitting on the 'front porch swing'. I love greens and I currently eat Roudybush pellets with fresh vegetables, some fruits, and healthy nuts. I promise that if you have the time, patience, and love to give, that I will make a great addition to your family. I really hope that you will come meet me very soon! if you would like to purchase a gift for me from my amazon wish list, you can see that at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/23GEXQBUP7SLV/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? Animal ID: BanditBlue & Gold Macaw (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Bandit is a 20-25 year old Blue & Gold Macaw who came to us recently from an emergency intake of several birds out of the same home. While Bandit is obviously missing quite a few feathers (that most likely will not grow back), she has been given a clean bill of health by our vet. She does need more bathes and a better diet to eventually improve the condition of the remaining feathers, but we are working on that J She is loving her new pellet blend diet along with lots of fresh veggies, fruit and nuts. She especially loves bananas! While she is not yet easily handleable, she shows a keen interest in interaction and is showing a lot of ... (Read More)improvement in the short time she has been with us. She has a wonderfully clear speaking voice and can say 'Hello', 'Goodbye' and she quacks like a duck, she is very funny! The previous owner said she likes to bite you and then say 'ouch', but we have not witnessed this behavior while she has been with us. Bandit has huge, soulful eyes and we feel that with time, patience and an owner understanding of macaw behavior, she will become a great companion! Interested in adoption? Animal ID: ZoeyBare-Eyed Cockatoo (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

Hi there- my name is Zoey, I am a male Bare-eyed cockatoo. I am a cute, cunning little fellow. My Foster Mom is working with me to improve my diet. I love chop but am having a hard time finding a pellet that I will eat, I prefer junk so she is trying to get me to eat the good stuff. I hadn't been handled much from my previous owner, maybe it is because I bite. I am stick trained and don't mind being moved to my play stand via this method. I do need a very patient person to work with me to learn trust and help me learn to behave better, I am not a family bird yet, but my foster Mom will continue to work with me. I do talk and have a cute ... (Read More)squeaky voice. I need an experienced, patient cockatoo person to help me become the best pet ever. Are you up for a challenge? If so, contact FPR and you can adopt me. Interested in adoption? Animal ID: CharlieSulfur Crested Cockato

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Charlie is a sulfur crested cockatoo. He has always been called a 'he' but his sex is unknown as is his species. He is either a small medium sulfur crested or a hybrid of a lesser sulfur and a medium. Life hasn't always been easy for Charlie. In the first home we are aware of he was attacked by a pair of macaws. They destroyed his upper mandible. It has partially grown back, but his sinuses are still exposed and always will be. It hasn't inhibited him though from being active or from eating. He may not be able to crack a walnut, but he readily eats most anything else without assistance. His beak does however require trimming every four weeks ... (Read More)in order to keep from growing too long. If this isn't done it makes eating difficult and will cause it to become thin and brittle as well. Charlie's next home was with a well meaning person who took in more birds than she could handle. Compounded by the owner's poor health he was soon living in unhealthy conditions. The home was crowded and the air toxic. Now Charlie is living in foster care and having a blast. He loves to play with toys that he can stash in his boxes, and will actually unscrew toys hung from the top of the cage to add to his stash. He loves his foster mom. His foster dad? Well, not so much. Other birds? Again, not so much. Actually poor Charlie is rather anti social and seems to strongly bond to one person and one person only. He's extremely smart and is an escape artist. Charlie may not be perfect in appearance or behavior, but if you are looking for a challenge and are female he is worth the effort. To the one he chooses he is very loving and sweet. Interested in adoption? Animal ID: ChampMollucan Cockatoo (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Champ is a real character and has never met a person he did not like. He has a wonderful disposition and is a real 'velcro' bird. Champ would hang out with you all day long if you let him, he just needs time to get used to you and any people need to go very slow with him. He did not come to us from an ideal situation and he has some insecurities because of that. He is however a typical Cockatoo and can be LOUD when he is feeling ignored, but for the most part, he is a fairly quiet bird, for a cockatoo anyway! As you may have noticed, Champ does not have tail feathers and he will not grow any (we call him the buttless wonder!). He had a wound ... (Read More)in that area which has long since healed but destroyed all follicles, however, all the plumbing works just fine! Champ has been converted to a healthy diet of pellets, fresh vegetables and fruit. He enjoys nuts as treats. He will try anything you offer. He is especially fond of sweet potatoes. Champ WILL NOT do well in a home with other cockatoos, he does like being around other birds, but NOT other cockatoos. He also does not like to be around other birds that are very loud. He is fine with other animals though, such as dogs. He is fine with men or women, but he does prefer men. Champ is under the age of 10 (best guess) and although he may not be the prettiest bird, he sure does have character and will make a great companion for the right family! Everyone who meets Champ falls in love with his sweet personality. Interested in adoption?
