Animal ID: Ms. NubsCockatiel (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hi! My name is Ms. Nubs and I am a young cockatiel. I am a sassy little girl but that doesn't mean I won't give you cuddles! My favorite thing to do is preen my foster mom and dad while sitting on their shoulders (dad is my favorite shh!). I love playing with rope and sitting on my ladder and looking out the window all day. I have an on/off relationship with hands. Please be patient with me, I am learning hands are not bad! I am also learning that baths are not so bad either! I'm pretty quiet for a cockatiel, I make soft little chirps when I want attention and a little bit louder chirps when I want to be left alone. I am not a very good ... (Read More)eater right now but my foster mommy is introducing me to yummy fruits and veggies. I am slowly transitioning to an all pellet diet of Roudy Bush Nibbles. I'm a bit hesitant but I'll get there. More than anything, I would like to find my forever home. Could it be with you? Would you like to come meet me and find out? Maybe I could sit on your shoulder and give you cuddles???? Hope to meet you soon! Would you like to buy me a 'welcome to Rescue' gift? I would so appreciate it!!!! Animal ID: DuradoSun Conure (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi there, Durado here! I am a 10-year-old, male sun conure and I am just as sweet as can be! I have spent the last four years of my life in and out of a pet shop because both of my mommies traveled too much and could no longer take care of me. They loved me very much, so they decided to send me to the good folks at Florida Parrot Rescue so that I could get the attention I deserve, and boy I sure am glad they did! A guy just needs some stability in his life, am I right? My safe place is my cuddle hut, but my foster mom says if you give me enough space and time to adjust to my new surroundings, I come out of my shell in no time! Now I have the ... (Read More)confidence to step right up to get the love I have been craving. I enjoy getting head scritches and riding around in my foster mom's t-shirt. I simply love having someone to hang out with all day! I prefer women over men since I came from a home with women only, and I am a bit weary of dogs because I was attacked by one in my previous home. I do well with other birds, and I don't mind my foster brother one bit, although we do not interact since he is so much bigger than me. My foster mom was told that I do ok with older children, but she is uncertain of how I am with younger ones; all of my human siblings were teenagers when I was brought home. But my foster mom thinks I would do best in a calm home, preferably where someone is around more often than not. I do love attention and I will let you know if I do not feel like I am getting enough, and also to remind you that I am in the room, so you don't ever forget me. I get scared when I am alone in the room all by myself, so I need someone who is willing to help show me that you will always come back-I just don't want to be left behind is all. My foster mom is helping me with this and she is teaching me how to use my 'inside' voice when I want her attention. For this reason, I am not suitable for condo or apartment living. She says I have made good progress and I just know if someone could come along with a lot of patience and love to give, I will make the perfect pal! If you give me your love, I will give it right back. Just be sure to wear your designated 'bird-shirt' when I am on your shoulder‰'Û| I like to put holes in things I shouldn't. What? I thought you looked hot and could use the extra air conditioning, this is Florida after all. I love a good dance party and will bob my head to music, and I especially like it when you sing to me. I am on a healthy diet of pellets, healthy nuts, and so far my favorite fruit is grapes. My foster mom keeps putting this stuff called chop in my bowl, but she must be crazy because this stuff looks like grass. Maybe I will try it one day. When the sun goes down I am quiet as a mouse. I don't utter a peep, nope, not me! I will even make kissy noises after you cover my cage and I am all snuggled in. At night I like to be in a dark, quiet area for a good night's rest, so I can be ready to play with you the next day. I really hope someone out there sees all the potential I have bottled up inside of me just waiting to be unlocked. I am keeping my feathers crossed that someone special will come along and give me a family to call my very own. Maybe this special someone is you? While you are waiting to meet me, would you consider purchasing a gift for me from my Amazon Wish List? I would be so appreciative! Animal ID: BubblesCockatiel (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hi! My name is Bubbles and I'm a few months under a year old! Everyone, including my vet, thinks I'm a male but we're not 100% sure. I'm a bit shy and hands terrify me, but I love hanging around outside of my cage and I will usually step up on a ladder or perch if you ask nicely. I'm young so there's plenty of time to get used to hands...especially if they keep offering me tasty millets•À%BD'•À%BD| I am a very good eater and I take a nibble at anything once you aren't looking. I currently eat a mix of seeds and pellets, with some occasional fruits/veggies. I especially love corn mixed into my food, I'll eat it all up! I'm very talkative ... (Read More)once I get to know you and I mimic all sorts of sounds. Sometimes my foster mother jokes that she adopted a dog instead of a bird since I'm so good at making barking noises. I don't say any words, but maybe with some more practice•À%BD'•À%BD| Please come around and meet me, then maybe we can practice together? Maybe you would like to buy me a toy or treat from my Amazon wish list? I would sure love that!!!! Here is the link! http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3DPRMKFX03D6U/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Animal ID: WillyYellow Naped Amazon

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello out there! My name is Willy and I am mighty pleased to meet you! I am a 30 yr old Yellow Naped Amazon. No one is sure, but me, whether I am a boy or a girl, but my foster family thinks I might be a boy. I guess, if I lay an egg, they are wrong, huh? In the meantime, though, I have not laid one, so we will go with boy. I really like apples and I bet if you offered me other fresh fruits and some healthy nuts like almonds or walnuts I'd like those too. I need veggies in my diet as well so some other good things to try would be chop, and fresh, raw veggies as yummy snacks. Please remember that avocados are deadly and peanuts can make me ... (Read More)really sick. I like to play with my bell, hang upside down, chatter and talk. I have been heard to say 'I love you', 'hello', 'bird', and I do whistle. I'm not really what you would call loud, either. I will step up onto your arm when I am away from my cage. My previous owner of 30 years was a man so I guess you could say I prefer men, but I seem to do ok with women. I am also ok with other birds as long as they stay off my cage. My cage is MINE! My foster family tells me that I am 'defensive' over my cage, and that I don't need to be because they aren't going to take it away from me or harm me while I'm in it or on it, but I don't understand exactly what they mean. I MUST protect my home, it is really all I still have! Even though they tell me I have a wonderful new home now, with lots to eat, lots of toys and lots of love to experience, my cage has been the only constant thing in my life lately and I may lunge at you while I am on it and even bite. My foster family is working hard to teach me not to be so defensive of my home, but it will take some time to learn. I have been used to doing this for many years. Habits can be broken, it just takes patience and time. I am a sweet boy and have the potential to be a wonderful, loving companion for the right person. I will need someone who is experienced with amazons and who will take the time to work with me using force free behavior modification. I will also need to be in a home without young children. With, time, patience and love, anything can be overcome! Please come and meet me and let's see if we can make things 'click' between us! If you would like to send me something from my Amazon wish list, here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1S8VXGTHM6GV8/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Hope to meet you soon! Animal ID: HarleyUmbrella Cockatoo (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! Hi! Hi! My name is Harley, pleased to meet you! Don't let the name fool you, I am a lovely 16 year old female Umbrella Cockatoo. My foster daddy says that I am a real sweetie. I do prefer the men, though, and must be adopted into a home where only men live. I am a real cuddly, hands on type snuggler and I have to admit I really crave attention..a lot of it. Sometimes, when I feel like I'm not getting all the attention I feel I deserve, I will scream to let you know that I think you are neglecting me. This makes me quite unsuitable for apartment or condo living, so please, if you are interested in adopting me, live in a single family ... (Read More)family home. I get along well with my foster family's furry friends (both dogs and cats) but please do not leave me together with your other pets, unsupervised, no matter how well we seem to get along. Bedtime is not a problem for me. I will quiet down and go to sleep right away when it's dark and I am covered and will sleep through the night. I am a pellet diet supplemented with 'chop'. My foster dad has been trying to get me to eat these things called 'nuts' but so far I havent been too thrilled with them. If you would like to cut off a piece of the fresh fruit you are eating and give me a taste, I bet I would like it! My favorite toy is one that I can destroy. I can't have too many of those! Hey! What can I say? I have a big beak and you know what they say...A busy beak is a happy beak. (or something like that). My favorite game is Peek A Boo! I love to get under the covers and stick my head out and hear you say Peek A Boo! I also like it when my foster daddy holds me on his arm, holds my feet, and flips me upside down very fast. If you come to meet me, I'll ask him to show you how he does this. I am really a pretty good natured bird and should fit well into my new forever home, but first I have to find it! Would you be interested in giving a beautiful Umbrella cockatoo a home for good? How about coming to meet me and let's see if you and I are meant to be together! In the meantime, would you like to buy me a gift from my Amazon wish list? Here is the link, I would really appreciate it. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3AFC7LC3LWBJ4/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Hope to meet you soon! Animal ID: BogeyBlue & Gold Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! My name is Bogey and I am an 18 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. Before coming to live with my foster mum, I had been in the same home all 18 years of my life. Mum and dad got so busy, that I was ignored for a very long time. Because of that, I don't know how to interact with humans anymore so they decided I would be better off in a home that I could have the attention I deserve, and in turn, learn to love humans again. I like food, and I suggest that when you approach me and offer me your hand in friendship, it has food in it. If it doesn't, well, I hate to admit it, but I might actually bite. But it's easy to keep me from biting, like ... (Read More)I said, just offer me food :) I do scream a little but now I have these fun things called toys I don't feel the urge to scream as much as I use to. Still, I am not suited to condo or apartment living. I wasn't on the best of diets before but my foster mum is sneaking in some healthy pellets. They look kinda boring cause they are not pretty colors but I am beginning to start nibbling on them and they aren't too bad! She cheated just a bit and mixed a little seed in with them and I sure do love that! I am just loving all these fresh veggies I get for my evening meal and my foster mum hasn't found a veggie I won't eat yet. I used to love canned pineapple for snacks but I have been converted to raw almonds, pine nuts... well, really you can give me any type of nut and I will take it right from your hand. My favorite pastime is having long talks with my foster mum from atop my cage. She is pretty tall (she has a kinda funny accent too) but I will bend over and put my face right by hers so we can talk eye to eye. I am so wishing for a forever home so I can become part of a family and feel the love and compassion I have missed for so long. I will need someone with patience, who is willing to work with me and love me unconditionally. I know, in time, I will become that loving, wonderful, companion that I used to be. Won't you please come meet me and see if you could be the person I've been looking for? I just know you are out there, somewhere! While you are making plans to meet me, would you like to send me a gift from my Amazon wish list? I would be so happy and excited to get a gift!
