Animal ID: Mo and MakiAfrican Grey (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello out there! My name is Maki and I am a female Congo African Grey. My exact age isn't known but I am most likely around 25 years or older. My mate, Mo, is around the same age. We were a breeding pair for many years, out in California, until I got egg bound. Now, no more eggs for me but I am happy to have survived the ordeal! Mo and I don't share a cage anymore, but I still talk to him all day long. I say 'Hi Mo', 'You ok?', 'What's wrong?'I lost my eye a few years ago, so I became a little more accepting of a hand up, but I am still not fond of hands. Mo doesn't have anything to say at the moment which is why I talk to him all day ... (Read More)probably, he never talks back! Mo doesn't really trust people right now, but our foster mom says that will probably change in time.'' Both of us were checked by the vet. We are both in good health, except the vet had the nerve to call me overweight! I don't know? Does my butt look big to you? We both eat Harrison's and Feed Your Flock pellets. Mo likes chop, me...eh..I would rather have nutriberries or big chunks of veggies so I can toss out what I don't like. It's really hard to toss chop. Although Mo and I are in separate cages, we get very anxious if we are not near each other and our cages must be kept close together. We *are* a bonded pair, at the moment, and we must also be adopted together. Is there anyone out there willing give a pair of African Greys that still need some social skills a forever home? There is no doubt that it will take a lot of time, a lot of patience and a lot of love, to win us over, but it will be so worth the effort!!!!! A pair like us is not for the novice bird owner so please have previous African Grey or large bird handling experience. Also, please remember that we are an EX breeding pair and under NO circumstances are we to EVER be used for breeding purposes again. I could die! :( Since Mo and I are in separate cages, we can't share our stuff anymore and we would be grateful if you could see your way clear to buy us anything from our Amazon wishlist. Animal ID: Mojicockatiel (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hellooo everyone out there in cyberspace! My name is Moji and I am a beautiful, young, male, cockatiel looking for a forever home. When I was a baby, I broke my leg and it didn't heal exactly right, and I hurt my wing while trying to balance on my bad leg, so I have some tender places, but I still can perch on your finger and enjoy a good head scritch. I mumble most of the time, but my foster mom has heard me say what sounds like words! She is trying to teaching me all kinds of new stuff. I am on a fairly healthy diet of Harrison's Pellets and Feed Your Flock Pellets. Those are really good! I do not love fresh veggies yet but my foster ... (Read More)mom keeps putting them in a bowl for me. You know how we Cockatiels are, we won't eat anything that we don't recognize as food so, some day, when I understand they are food and are yummy, I will probably try them. I was skinny when I came to Florida Parrot Rescue, but I am making up for lost time. Just wait and see how I grow stronger! I have no experience with children or pets other than being one of many birds. I don't bite, I'm just a little shy. I know with patience and love, I could be coaxed out of my shell (haha, see? I have a sense of humor too) and become a loving companion, eager to socialize and be with my forever family. Could that forever family be yours? Come meet me and let's find out! I would be grateful if you'd be willing to buy me some things from my Amazon wishlist. Here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1PLIYK0MHLL4J/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Animal ID: CocoAmazon

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi Everyone! Originally, I came to my foster mom without her knowing anything about me at all. Not even my name! But I am a very smart, talkative, Amazon and I told her my name- it's Coco!! So, Coco here, nice to meet you, so glad everyone is finally able to call me by name! I got a clean bill of health at the vets. They can't tell how old I am but they think I am young. My foster mom is working with me on trying to improve my diet. So far I like the fruity pellets and almonds! I also get little bits of wholegrain cracker for a treat! MMMMM I sure do love those. I tasted chop once, and I really didn't like it but mom keeps putting it in my ... (Read More)food dish so perhaps I'll change my mind. You know how we Amazons are, most of us really LOVE foods of all types, it's just a matter of getting used to them. I do not step up, currently, but my foster mom is teaching me this new game. I call it 'click treat' and I really like any kind of game that I can earn treats. When I touch my beak to this stick, I hear a click and I get a treat! It's fun and I'm pretty sure that soon I will understand that I'm supposed to step up. I am also quite polite when I want to be. I will say 'thank you' when I get put to bed at night. My foster mom thinks it's really sweet. I also make a very loud siren-type screech which isn't so polite and makes me unsuitable for apartment or condo living. Do I sound like I might be a good companion for you? All I need is a bit of love, patience and understanding and I'm sure I'll be more than a good companion, I'll be a GREAT one. Please come meet me and let's see where it goes from there! While you are thinking about that, I could really use some things from my Amazon wish list. Maybe you could buy me something? I would sure appreciate it! Here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/280LGRGEXE90P/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Hope to meet you soon! Hugs and kisses, Coco Interested in adoption? Animal ID: FijiLorikeet (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Howdy! My name is Fiji. I am a 4 yr old female rainbow lorikeet. My personality is as bright and busy as my beautiful feathers! My favorite toys are bright plastic balls and rings that I can hang upside down from. I also love to put on a show for my foster mom. I talk to her, play peekaboo, tug of war and lay on my back for tummy tickles. When I'm in the right mood I'll step up and beg for head scritches. I love head scritches! Like any performer I crave an audience and will let you know if I'm feeling under appreciated. I may be a little bird but I have a big voice. I haven't been around kids or other birds much so I don't know how I ... (Read More)feel about them. Lorikeets are nectar eaters in the wild and recreating this at home can be messy. I am currently eating Pretty Bird Lory pellets, daily, supplemented with nectar and lots of fresh fruits and veggies. I drink from a water bottle so that helps keep things a little cleaner. My droppings are more moist and sticky than other parrots because of the nectar. The sugary food and feces are prime breeding ground for bacteria so it's very important to clean my cage and bowls frequently to keep me healthy. If you think you like to have your very own clown to make you smile everyday I am just the birdie for you. I hope you come to meet me soon. While you are waiting to meet me, would you like to buy me a little something from my Amazon wishlist? Maybe another toy that I can hang upside from? I would sure love that!!! Animal ID: MickeyQuaker

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi there! My name is Mickey and I am a three year old Quaker parrot. My previous mommy is pretty sure I'm a boy but maybe I'm a girl? Who knows maybe I'm actually a Minnie! You may have noticed, I am a bit of a plucker around my chest but I am getting better and new feathers are growing in! Because of this, I need lots of shredding toys to destroy and I would do best with someone who is home a lot during the day and can give me loads of time outside of the cage and lots of attention! My foster daddy does try to give me baths and I don't like those much but I AM learning to like head scritches! I'm pretty protective of my cage, so it's best ... (Read More)to handle me out of the cage and in a different room. My foster daddy is working on stick training to help with transporting me away from the cage. Once I'm out of the cage I'm pretty sweet to anyone! I love just being on people, way more fun to perch on than pieces of wood! Sometimes I preen my foster daddy's hair. I have a cute little ducky toy that I like to sleep with, that's my buddy! When I'm covered at night, I make cute little kissy noises. I don't talk much but I am learning; when my foster daddy says 'step up' I'll say 'up', when he says 'no bite' I say '-ite' and when he says 'pretty boy' I like to say '-oy'. Right now I LOVE seeds but I am slowly being converted to a healthy pellet diet with some fresh fruits and veggies thrown in. Maybe you're thinking about adopting me? I will try to be on my best behavior when you come to meet me, which I hope will be very soon. In the meantime, maybe you can send me some gifts from my wish list at: https://www.amazon.com/'|/'|/2X16OXCGD04MP/ref=cm_wl_list_o_33? All gifts are very appreciated, thank you!! Animal ID: VinnyCatalina Macaw (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello Everyone! My name is Vinny and I am a gorgeous Catalina Macaw. No one knows my exact age, not even me, but everyone seems to think I'm around 20. Considering I can easily live to be 80, I'm still a spring chicken, so to speak! I'm a pretty curious fella and I like to be where the action is. I like to walk around the floor and see what kind of toys I can find to play with. Some of my favorite things are just stuff you might have laying around like blankets or boxes, or maybe even your laundry! I also love love love to chew paper and wood, the wood doesnt even have to be a toy. Plain wood blocks work fine for me. Best that you provide ... (Read More)me some to chew on though..or..well.. you know...I might find my own. I used to wear a harness and my foster mom is getting me used to wearing one again so I can go outside in my harness instead of in my cage. How much fun would that be!!!?? There are other non-humans in my new foster home but I don't really pay them much attention except when my foster mommy is holding one of the other birds, then I get a wee bit jealous. I don't seem to mind the little humans either, but none of them have really approached me yet so I'm not sure how I would act if they did. Sometimes, when I want something, or I want to be moved to a different part of the house, I do not use my 'indoor' voice and can be quite loud. Like most macaws, I would not make a good companion for anyone living in a condo or an apt so please think about your neighbors if you are considering adopting me. The vet has given me a clean bill of health. I have gorgeous feathers and you can see from my pics, no picking or plucking here. I am on a great diet of pellets, nuts, veggies and fruits, exactly what I should be eating. I will take a taste of just about anything you offer me, I am a good eater! I am a little cage defensive but my foster mom is working on that with me. I also seem to be a little distrusting of men, maybe even scared of them. My foster family is working on that with me too. I know I will make an excellent family companion with people who are willing to be patient and help me understand that I don't have to be fearful of men and there is no need for me to protect my cage from anyone! Could you be those people? Please come out and meet me and let's find out! Would you like to buy me a Welcome to Rescue gift from my Amazon Wish list? Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hi! My name is Amethyst and my best buddy is Pearl! I'm the pretty blue and purple one with a black head, Pearl is a gorgeous cream color with a slight teal green that's hard to see in pictures. We are two very young (around six months) lovebirds! We are bonded to each other and come as a package deal :) Pearl is kinda fidgety and neither of us are very tame YET but our foster daddy has experience with untame lovebirds so he's very optimistic that we will be friendly to people! Right now we are very skittish, Pearl more so than me, and we try to run away whenever our foster daddy comes in to change our water or food! He can't wait to start ... (Read More)working on us once we've settled in though! Right now we LOVE seeds but our daddy is trying to get us onto some small pellets. He hopes that once we're on a pellet diet we will try fresh fruits and veggies. Would you consider adopting us? We are so young, I know we could learn to be wonderful, friendly companions with someone willing to be patient and show us lots of love.     Hi! My name is Mellie and I am a female Eclectus. It's not known how old I am but the Vet guesses I am around 20 years old or older. I am working on being handled but I have not been handled much in the past so it's new to me and I'm a little scared. I know with love, patience and time I will look forward to stepping up onto my favorite humans' hand, arm or shoulder! I am on such a healthy diet! I love pellets, fruits and veggies. Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi Everyone! Our names are Spencer and Petrie. We are a happily bonded pair of female cockatiels, approximately 16 yrs old, who have lived together for all of our lives. We have always been loved and well taken care of. Originally we lived with a great man up until he passed. We were then given to his neighbor who loved us dearly but due to life's circumstances, she was forced to find a new home for us. We are so thankful that the wonderful folks at FPR found us and took us to a new, temporary home. Our new foster mother is super nice to us. She took us to the birdie doctor when she first got us. The dr said that because we are used to ... (Read More)flying we could only get a 'baby' wing clip because we could hurt ourselves if all of a sudden we couldn't fly at all anymore. Our foster mom understands that we can still sort of fly and she lets us fly around her house. We are not picky eaters and love fresh fruits and vegetables. We will come out and play with our foster mother as long as she has fruits and vegetables in her hand. Lately, we've been really warming up to her and we let her pick us up whenever she wants to. She keeps telling us how sweet and how pretty we are so we reward her with whistles and cute little chirps. We must be adopted together because we would miss each other greatly. We are sisters in every sense of the word. We even argue! But we love each other greatly. We cannot wait to go to our new forever home and show our new parronts the same love that we show each other. I lost my toes and a portion of my beak to my former mate. Now, though, in spite of my injuries, I am still a cuddle bug with the right lady. I will gladly take treats and accept head scritches from anybody but I will only cuddle with a lady. Hey, we are all entitled to our own preferences, right? :) When I first came into Rescue, I was not on a very healthy diet. Fortunately for me, these good people at FPR know exactly what I'm supposed to be eating! Now I get yummy veggies, ... (Read More)fruits and Zupreem pellets. I love chew toys and I love to give kisses. I will also give you a whistle when I want your attention. Other than my attention whistle, I am very quiet for a cockatoo. Still, like most cockatoos, I am not really suitable for apartment or condo living. I am looking to find my forever home. Can it be with you? Come meet me and let's find out! Would you like to maybe buy me some of those chew toys I love so much from my Amazon Wish List? Here is the link, just in case! http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1FY21ORQBE60N/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Hope to meet you soon! Cuddles, Molly Interested in adoption? Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi there. My name is Mr. Magoo and I'm an African Grey. I'm a man of few words, actually I'm a bird of no words. Who knows, maybe someday I might talk. We are not sure of my age because we don't know much about my past life before Rescue . I'm at the very least 26 years old (I have a wild caught band on my foot.) My foster mom and dad think I'm older than that though. I'm fully blind in one eye and I can't see too much out of my other eye either. I haven't been handled in quite a few years so I'm still scared of people. I can be very protective of my space. My foster mom thinks with some time and patience I'll be able to learn to ... (Read More)trust again. The cage I came into Rescue in was too small and it had rust on it. My grip strength and my wings are weak, but with my new roomy cage and new healthy diet I'll get stronger. Thanks to the wonderful people at Florida Parrot Rescue, I received a beautiful cage and some new toys. My foster mom and dad are working on getting me on a good diet. Now I'm eating Higgin's safflower mix and Higgin's naturals. I haven't decided who 'my person' is yet. I do scream when someone approaches my cage, so please move slowly around me. I'm still very scared but, I'm slowly starting to trust. I don't seem to mind the four-legged friends in the house, but please make sure we are always supervised if we are in the same room together. (We may seem like good buddies but dogs *are* predators.) I'm looking forward to a forever home. Could that be with you? Please come meet me and let's find out! While you are waiting to meet me, would you like to buy me something from my Amazon Wish list? I sure would appreciate it! Here is the link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3RQZI3XMQVMFP/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Mr. Magoo Interested in adoption? Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hi! My name is Bubbles and I'm a few months under a year old! Everyone, including my vet, thinks I'm a male but we're not 100% sure. I'm a bit shy and hands terrify me, but I love hanging around outside of my cage and I will usually step up on a ladder or perch if you ask nicely. I'm young so there's plenty of time to get used to hands...especially if they keep offering me tasty millets%BD'%BD| I am a very good eater and I take a nibble at anything once you aren't looking. I currently eat a mix of seeds and pellets, with some occasional fruits/veggies. I especially love corn mixed into my food, I'll eat it all up! I'm very talkative ... (Read More)once I get to know you and I mimic all sorts of sounds. Sometimes my foster mother jokes that she adopted a dog instead of a bird since I'm so good at making barking noises. I don't say any words, but maybe with some more practice%BD'%BD| Please come around and meet me, then maybe we can practice together? Maybe you would like to buy me a toy or treat from my Amazon wish list? I would sure love that!!!! Here is the link! http://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3DPRMKFX03D6U/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v?
